Katrien writes the code, Ivo does the words and the pictures. We take three or four projects a year, mostly for museums, small publishers and people who run something on their own.
Every site we make starts with a weight budget, usually 150 kB for the first page a visitor sees. That number decides most of the arguments before anyone has them. A hero video does not fit. Four typefaces do not fit. A photo that carries the meaning of the page fits, once it has been resized properly. What we get in return is a site that opens on a phone with two bars of signal and costs almost nothing to host.

- Nine hundred objects, searchable without a database. 64 kB on the first page, 11 kB per object after that.
- De Lage Landen, a small press
- Catalogue, shop and twenty years of back issues. 102 kB, one typeface, no tracking of any kind.
- Bram Weyts, luthier
- Twelve photographs that had to look right, which took most of the budget. 148 kB, and he can add an instrument himself in about four minutes.
- Ghent Cycling Union
- Route sheets and a repair calendar, built to work on an old phone in the rain. 38 kB, and it caches so the second visit is nothing.
How we work
- Plain HTML and CSS, and JavaScript only where the page cannot do the job without it.
- System fonts. The letters on your screen are already on your computer.
- Images sized for the space they sit in, in one modern format with one fallback.
- Hosting you can leave. Everything we hand over is a folder of files.
- One round of edits after launch, then we teach you to make your own.
We charge by the project, not the hour, and we will tell you before we start if we think you need a smaller studio than ours.
